Have you been paying attention to your local police and fire activity during this whole Covid-19 stuff? In the beginning it was very relaxed. The police cruisers were out, but not really do much. More of being scene to make you rethink anything stupid. Well, that's how it's suppose to work.
Now that we are so into this pandemic the activities in certain King county areas have spiked. Now, I don't know all of the numbers, but I have a link below that can give you some insight as to how rapidly these serious crimes are happening during the virus. When it's suppose to be stay in place right? in one week there were at least 3 shootings near me and two were fatal. One shooting took place a convenient store that I go to all the time. Glad I wasn't there that night.
Many of us who live in the south King county area are use to seeing a lot of street racers out, but now, these guys are going nuts on the freeway all night. 10, 20, 30 cars at a time flying down i-5. This has resulted in some high speed pursuits that was able to track on the radio.
Just based on my own observations around my area and what I hear on the scanner, I get a sense of angst, anxiety, boredom, alcohol and stupidity about to go sideways quick. Top that off with the productive folks out there protesting to reopen Washington and give Inslee the boot. Mad, frustrated, concerned. Can you imagine not knowing for sure how the rent and other bills would go during all of this?
As usual, keep your head on a swivel. Somebody is trying to use this whole situation as a way to get over on someone else. Don't be that someone else.
If you don't have a stand alone police scanner, you can always visit www.Broadcastify.com. Free with some ads. No download required.
The crime reports come via the Seattle Times.
This evening during yet another state address in the matter of Covid-19, governor Inslee proceeded to explain a lot of the same. If you heard him last week, you heard him today. More mask are being shipper. Testing is available. You should be checked if X, Y, Z, ...... You get the point. You know the drill now.
As far as these phases and steps go, logically speaking, it makes some sense. Where it falls apart is when I start hearing statements like, "if need be we may remove who we need to from the home". Also, I find it to be a slap in the face of the small business owners who can't or "won't" open, but the big box places in a lot of areas are ok? That's basically saying to our resident business owners, "You're not smart enough to be safe in your place of business".
Sometimes people run their mouths non stop because they either don't know what they're talking about or giving the Washington public a little bit of good ol' drag. What do I mean? Well, as soon as these phases were announced, based on every time Inslee talks and the rest of them loving the media coverage right now, they are going back and forth. Then a little hope, then a little delay. If you think this transition to fully open again is going to be smooth, don't place your bets. Phase 3 sounds like a long walk.
On a positive note, the state parks are back open. I haven't seen first had if their has been any adjustments made at any of the parks to keep people spread out. Use some common sense even if you think this whole thing is fake.
