The following coastal storm moving in off of the coast of northern Cal and Ore comes to you via the National Weather Service. www.Weather.gov
Here we have a two day forecast via the National Weather Service. As you can see our morning lows are going to be freezing and below in much of western Washington.
If you are going to be on the road traveling for Thanksgiving, take your time. Roads will be icey. Make sure you travel with items that you may need in case of an emergency while traveling.
(This was reported via the National Weather Service as of 2 hours ago. The time as of this post is 10:13 PM PST)
BHM has officially launched a new NET network. First steps in the launch of this NET network has been establishing our 2 meter repeater NET. Every Thursday at 8PM we are hosting a emergency preparedness NET on the HARC repeater in Burien, WA. This will take place every week at the same time.
(Periodically we will switch over to 70CM just for testing, but otherwise the HAM NET will be on the designated 2 meter repeater.)
Every Friday night at 7PM PST we head to CH 3 on CB Radio 11 meter band for some contacts. Because of the nature of CB radio at times this will not be set up like a directed NET. Instead the objective is to just make some solid contacts on the band. We are asking that people get on the CB radio and call out for at least 30 minutes every Friday. The more we do this the more we build up our presence on the band and we grow the number of non license operators on the air. Remember, non licensed operators on bands not requiring such can also be the provider of vital information in a crisis. These are our relays.
In addition to our HAM NET we are working on a GMRS NET. The details on that will be posted very soon.
The Black Horse NET is the beginning of a much bigger network plan. As our plans come together we will be updating you all about the growth of our NETs and our network. Be sure to join in for our NETs and if you are a operator interested in joining us, feel free to send us a email via our recruitment page.
